There are many factors in deciding which type of vacuum cleaner is best suited for your needs. Contrary to belief, upright vacuums are not more powerful than canisters and canister vacuums are not more powerful than uprights. They are simply different styles of vacuum cleaners. Central vacuums are generally more powerful than the majority of household vacuums with only a few exceptions. So the question is which one is best for me? The best way to determine that is to try it at one of our locations before you buy it. But in case you can't make it in, we've set up a vacuum comparison and vacuum ratings system to help guide your decision. This will give you a better sense of what you can expect from your new vacuum cleaner. Also consider which style will perform best in your environment with respect to carpet, bare floor, pets, allergies, weight, etc. You even need to consider if you prefer to change a bag or empty a bagless vacuum. The following breakdown gives you a rough vacuum capability guideline.
